Acer Warns Microsoft
0Microsoft seems very confident that their Windows 8 software will be a turning point for the company, but will it really be? In the past, Microsoft has been lacking behind other large companies, but now Microsoft is ready to make its debut with their Surface tablet hardware. TGDaily stated that the preperation of the latest move for the company has left many seasoned giants (such as HP and Acer) skeptical about Microsoft entering the tablet market. JT Wang, chairman and CEO of Acer, was recently reported warning Microsoft that the Surface would “negative [implications] for the worldwide [computing] ecosystem.”
He goes even further to state to the Financial Times that “We have said [to Redmond] think it over. Think twice. It will create a huge negative impact for the ecosystem and other brands may take a negative reaction. It is not something you are good at so please think twice.”
Acer’s founder, Stan Stih, voiced his opinion about Microsoft last month and was reported saying “I think Microsoft’s getting involved in the hardware business is designed to promote its Win8 [operating system],” and he goes on to say “But I sincerely recommend they withdraw from the hardware market when they get what they want.”
Acer along with other companies don’t seem to happy with the Microsoft’s tablet decision, primarily because according to Stih the Surface is going to compete with many hardware companies which are also business partners with Microsoft.
