Google Patent Reveals new Radial Navigation Design for Android and Chrome
0PatentBolt has discovered a new Google patent application that was filed in Q3 2011 that indicates that the search giant is looking to tweak the design of its Android and Chrome OS’ by bringing hidden radial navigation menus to both platforms. Once a user makes a swipe gesture from the edge of a device, a semicircle radial menu pops up in the section of the screen that swiped, offering users an easier way to navigate and access applications, as well as saving screen real estate. PatentBolt also noted that Apple has filed two patents for similar technology in the last two years, but only time will tell if these ideas ever make it to market, by who first, and if it will lead to another global patent war.
