As expected, Verizon has gone ahead and launched their new “Share Everything” plans today.

The new plans replace the previous exisiting family and individual tiered plans for incoming subscribers, because the new options provide unlimited talk, unlimited text, and shareable data with pricing based on how much data is consumed. That is right, no longer are the family plans at Verizon Wireless priced based on sharable minutes and messages, rather just data usage.

Under the new plan structure there is now a device access fee for every device per account, and the fee for phones includes unlimited talk and text. We broke down the monthly access fee below:

Cost breakdown by device:

  • Smartphones: $40 Monthly access for each line that has a smartphone, and it includes unlimited talk and text
  • Feature Phones: $30 Monthly access fee for every line that has a feature phone, and it includes unlimited talk and text
  • Mobile Hotspot: $20 Monthly access fee per hotspot. doesn’t include data
  • Tablets: $10 Monthly access fee per tablet, doesn’t include data

Data Pricing is additional fee on top of the device monthly access fee, a full breakdown below.

Data Pricing Breakdown:

  • $50 for 1GB of sharable data
  • $60 for 2GB of sharable data
  • $70 for 4GB of sharable data
  • $80 for 6GB of sharable data
  • $90 for 8GB of sharable data
  • $100 for 10GB of sharable data

The new plans apply to individuals and families looking to start new service with Verizon Wireless, existing users can keep their current plans until they are eligible for a phone upgrade. At the time of upgrade customers can choose to upgrade and change to a new plan, or pay the full retail price for the new device and retain their current plan.

To try and prevent confusion, Verizon created a  Share Every Information page, and a Share Everything calculator to help get individuals and families started.

According to the calculator, the lowest priced plan before taxes and surcharges that an individual interested in a single smartphone line could obtain from Verizon Wireless is $110, which includes unlimited talk, text, and 4GB of Data. The highest priced plan for a single smartphone line would be $140, which includes unlimited talk, text and 10GB of data. Now, if the same individual wanted to share data between a smartphone and a tablet, the lowest priced plan would increase to $120 for 4GB of shared data, while the highest price plan increases to $150 for 10GB of shared data. This increase is due to the $10 tablet monthly access fee.

A family interested in three smartphones can now share 2GB of data each and it will cost $200.00 a month before taxes and surcharges.

Update 6/29/12:

An anonymous Verizon Wireless retail employee reached out to us to inform us that individual plans are not going away. Individuals can choose to use a Share Everything plan if they feel the pricing is better for their needs. Otherwise they can choose an individual plan that meets their needs. We have confirmed via Verizon Wireless website that the option for individual plans remains alongside the new Shared Everything Plans. Photo Gallery below updated with new screen shots of the plans.
